Young Voices In Concert – Thursday 16 January 2020
We are all very much looking forward to the Young Voices Concert next Thursday – the children have worked really hard in their preparations and will be singing with a super-sized choir of 6,000 children at the Resorts World Arena at the NEC Birmingham.
A few last-minute reminders before the day itself is upon us:
Please ensure that your child comes to school in dark trousers (jeans, leggings or school trousers will do) and either the Young Voices t-shirt or a plain white t-shirt ONLY. The children will need to wear their school jumper and coat for travelling in.
Please remember their small torch for use as part of the quiet song choreography.
The children will leave school after lunch for an afternoon rehearsal and the concert itself will start at 7.00pm, and end at 9.00pm. This will mean a very long day for the children so I would advise that you request a hot meal in school for your child at lunch time if they do not usually have one. ALL pupils will need to bring a disposable packed tea and healthy snacks (fruit and cereal bars and plenty of plain drinks ie. water or juice – NO nuts/sweets/chocolate/fizzy drinks please). Please send your child in with at least one plastic bottle so that it can be refilled with drinking water if necessary. Please ensure that all packaging is disposable, ie no lunch boxes, just carrier bags.
The Parents’ Coach will leave school promptly at 5.15pm and will return to school in convoy with the children’s coach at around 9.45pm.
Please remember that, due to the size of this event, it is not practical for parents to try and meet up with their children at the Resorts World Arena once the concert is over.
If you are attending the concert and have seats on the Parent’s coach, can you please park on the school field. This will be locked for the duration of the concert and unlocked as the coach arrives back at school.
We usually arrive back at school between 9.45pm and 10.00pm, depending on traffic. If you are unable to join us for the concert can you please arrange to be at school by 10.00pm.
When you arrive to collect your child, the staff and lower car parks will be open thus avoiding congestion in the residential area. Please ensure you do not park in the approach roads as the coaches will need to reverse. In the interest of health and safety, children will need to be collected from The Gables entrance. This will allow staff to check the registers and record which child has been collected. If you will not be collecting your child and will be nominating someone else to do so, could you please inform the School Office by 9.00am on Thursday 16 January.
You will receive an updated text message of our arrival time back to school as we leave the Resorts World Arena.
Young Voices are supporting a national charity called FareShare. This is a charity which supports local homeless people and they are requesting donations of tins if you are able to spare one. The chlidren will be asked to drop donations of tins of fish, meat, soup or vegetables off on the way into the Arena. Thank you.
