Headmaster's Welcome
Mr Duigan`s weekly message.
Dear Parents
I should like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone at the start of our new school year. I hope you and your families enjoyed a happy, restful and restorative summer break. It was a real joy to see the children return with such enthusiasm and energy, ready to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. I would like to extend an especially warm welcome to our new families, and I hope that you have already been able to connect with some of our ‘more familiar’ faces amongst the parent body. I would be more than happy to help our new families in connecting with others.
As we begin this term, I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and smooth start and end to each school day. Our carline system is a vital part of this, and I kindly ask that all families adhere to the timings and procedures in place. These are designed not only for efficiency but, most importantly, for the safety of all our pupils and staff. Please ensure you arrive within your designated time slot and follow the guidance of our staff on duty. The field is a great space to utilise as a holding area, which will be open for your convenience, so when traffic starts to become stagnant, please use this space for waiting. I have also asked that staff ensure that they have the pupils downstairs and ready in good time. You are more than welcome to leave your car and walk to any designated area, or to help your child with their belongings. The best area for this drop-off in the mornings would be the lower playground, where you would find it less of a hurry.
There are other articles contained within this edition of the Chronicle to guide and advise; this is useful and helpful especially to our newer families who have just joined us.
This term also coincides with the Season of Creation, a time observed by Christians around the world from 1 September to 4 October, culminating in the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology and our local church here to Kenilworth. It is a season of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to caring for our common home. As a school rooted in faith and stewardship, we will be encouraging our pupils to consider how they can be caretakers of God’s creation and to cherish and protect our world and all living things.
We look forward to a term filled with learning, growth, challenge and community spirit. Thank you for journeying with us as we nurture not only academic excellence but also compassion, responsibility, and faith in our young people.
For our first celebration Assembly back, my thanks go to Edward (J6A) who opened with a superb performance of 'Singing in the Rain!' Sara Higginbotham, our co-chair of the PTA, has called for willing volunteers and new parents on the PTA committee. It is not at all onerous and people are not expected to give more of their time than they are able. Please contact the school office should you be interested in seeing if a PTA role would suit you.
As a Foundation we are always looking at better ways to communicate, and so with that are excited to announce that My School Portal have released a new Guardian mobile app, which is now available for download. The new app makes it even easier for parents and guardians to access key information, such as reports, attendance information, teacher contacts and rewards information, as well as documents, school communications and useful links, please see the article on this for further details.
There is certainly some good sport to watch this weekend. The Springboks have a difficult fixture against the All Blacks in New Zealand, along with the US Open tennis and some international football matches. The Woman’s Rugby World Cup is well underway, with England looking very strong indeed. I did not expect the South African cricketers to beat England in the ODIs this week, but I will certainly take that result.
I would like to wish you all a happy and restful weekend with friends and family.
God bless
Rob Duigan
