Monday Mission Assembly
Mr Duigan welcomed the school back after half-term and congratulated the First Holy Communion pupils on recently receiving this special Sacrament. These included Isabel, William, Lewis, Liana, and Sloane and Vaughan in their absence. Mr Duigan linked this to the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, which is celebrated each year on the second Thursday after Pentecost. Thursday was chosen as it was the day when the Last Supper was celebrated. Mr Duigan explained the Latin meaning of Corpus Christi, which means the body of Christ. He further spoke about how Holy Communion is a special gift that helps us to know that God is always with us and it is a way for us to become closer to God. Other ways of becoming closer to God is receiving the Seven Sacraments - which include Baptism, Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders and Annointing the Sick. Mr Duigan explained how these are all ceremonies which are gifts from God.
