Mission Assembly

Mr Duigan led the school Mission Assembly and talked about the 175 years of prayer which was celebrated on Education Sunday. This was linked with our school Mission Statement where we 'follow the teaching and example of Jesus as we celebrate everybody, every day, creating a school family where we love, learn and grow.' Mr Duigan compared this to the growth of a tree. If you let the tree grow wild without pruning it from time to time, the branches are not going to grow properly and it could become tangled with weeds, which would destroy the tree or stop it from growing altogether. "God is our vine and we are the fruitful branches." John 15:5.

Jesus is the vine, the true source of life for us. We are branches connected to Him, drawing that life from Him as branches draw the necessary nutrients to survive and flourish. At first glance, we may assume that branches bear fruit, but in another sense, it's really the vine that makes it all happen. Only by staying connected, can we bear much fruit.
