Headmaster's Message

Headmaster's Welcome

Dear Parents

I hope that the second week of the new school year has started to feel more familiar to you and the children. Class information evenings have taken place for all year groups, with our last one being this afternoon; I hope that you have found these useful. If you have any further questions concerning your child, please make contact with your child’s form teacher in the first instance who will be able to help or direct you to the most appropriate member of staff.

I was delighted to welcome many of our new parents to our Information Evening on Monday 12 September. This provided an opportunity to meet school staff and also other parents who are new to the Crackley Hall community. My thanks to Mrs Jenny Vaughan for co-ordinating this event and to Holroyd Howe staff for providing a splendid selection of canapes.

Junior 3 and 4 were able to return to swimming lessons this week at the Xcel Centre in Coventry. Whilst some of our Junior 3 children will not be able to participate every week this term, all children will be involved and I look forward to hearing about their progress and seeing the certificates achieved.

Following our very successful Compliance Inspection towards the end of last term, I am very proud to report that we received a glowing report from the Independent Schools inspectorate; meeting all the requirements from each section. Further details are reported later in this Chronicle but I am immensely grateful to every member of staff for their part played during the inspection, and every day since.

Last week, I announced our Junior 6 captains for this academic year; all Stewards will be celebrated next Friday’s assembly.  Each Junior 6 child was able to apply for a role and had an opportunity to speak to their peers as to why they would like to serve as a captain. These roles and responsibilities are an opportunity for the children to become role models for the younger students and I congratulate every new captain and steward.

During our Key Stage 1 celebration assembly today, I presented Stars of the Week to Harper, Faryal, Thomas, Wilf, William, Francesca, Thea, Henry, Alex, Jessie-Jean, Olivia, Kit and Leani.  Congratulations to everyone on a super start to this term. We were also treated to wonderful singing by Josie-Jean.

There was also a super selection of certificates presented including LAMDA and music achievements.  Jai and Sloane received DaVinci’s for attaining 100% in their LAMDA examinations. Please do make sure you forward any certificates or trophies achieved outside of school so that these maybe celebrated during our assemblies.

As most of our families will know, our hard working PTA organise many events throughout the school year and these can be enjoyed by children, families and staff.  Next week, they will hold the first family event of this school year which will take place on Friday 23 September in the school hall.  The PTA have circulated details of the Ceilidh dance and I hope to see many of you in school next Friday afternoon.  Parking for this event will be on the school field.

Your continued support with carline collection times, and parking on the school field as much as possible, is much appreciated. This is particularly important on a Friday morning when we hold Celebration Assembly and Friday afternoon when there are several extra-curricular clubs taking place.  The school field will continue to be made available for parking which will ease traffic congestion and allow safe collection from the school premises.

Next week school will close on Monday for Her Majesty's funeral and we will return to school on Tuesday 20 September. We continue to pray for the repose of her soul and give thanks for her life, so generously lived in the service of others. She will always be remembered as a kind, caring, wise and considerate queen. We pray for her family, at this time including her successor, King Charles III.

I am also sad to report the passing this week of a former Headteacher of St Joseph’s/Crackley Hall. Mrs Lesley Cox is known to many in the school community and we remember her in prayer and pray especially that she is resting peacefully with Our Lord.

I would like to wish everyone a most peaceful long weekend with your families.

God bless
