Monday Mission Assembly

Mr Cottrill led the Monday Mission assembly and showed the pupils a picture of grapes in a vineyard grown in long lines as he asked the pupils what they knew already about grapes.  The school were then shown how a vine was trained to grow alongside the clusters of grapes which come from each individual branch and they were asked what would happen if a branch was removed from the vine and laid down on the ground. The pupils recognised that the branch would wither, dry up and die. However, they also acknowledged that they would need to stay connected to the vine if it was going to produce any fruit, as the branch gets all its nourishment from the vine. We are the branches connected to Jesus. The children were able to identify that we are all the fruit and the branches and if we get cut off from the trunk - which is Jesus - then we will not be guided by God. Our fruits should be love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control and Jesus wanted our lives to show these good characteristics and qualities.

We reflected and imagined what our homes would be like if we were producing these fruits?  We imagined what our school would be like if we were producing these fruits. We then imagined what our community and our nation would be like if we were producing these fruits.
